R.I.P Palin Perez Jackson 1973-2009
November 26, 2009

“In loving memory to a great friend,Artists, Hero, and Father we miss you.
We lost Palin Perez Jackson Nov 25 to a unfourtinate event of a battle to protect his self and his family.”
Young Orlando artists grieved Wednesday afternoon outside yellow crime scene tapes on East Livingston Street where a troubled man described as one of the city’s most promising painters died in a stand-off with police.
Palin Perez Jackson was shot when he stepped outside his front door with a gun in his hands, police said.
“He elevated the whole arts scene downtown,” said Tre Harris, one of the founders Collective B Side Artists group. “We couldn’t help but feed off him.”
The group of seven artists said Perez Jackson, 36, and wife Mandy Small moved to Orlando about three years ago. An Army veteran, he suffered post-traumatic stress disorder from service during the Gulf War, they said.

Fables of the Equinox A Solo Art Exhibition – The Painting’s of Patrick Fatica
November 9, 2009The autumn season begins with the Equinox. The new season is the perfect setting for the annual Patrick Fatica art show at the Peacock Room. For the 4th annual show, beginning November 16th, Fatica will have his latest paintings from 2009 on display along with a few works from 2008. Patrick Fatica’s evocative scenes each create their own visceral narrative. The show’s title “Fables of the Equinox” is representative in the 2009 paintings. The new images portray the evolution of the seasons depicting his haunting beauties as solitary figures in bazaar seasonal dream worlds.
Fatica attended Ringling College of Art & Design from 1990-94 and moved to Orlando the following year. He kept busy as co-creator of the music venue Back Booth East followed by Back Booth Downtown and directing several original plays and a 16mm short film. At that time painting was a limited hobby. “I would do live paintings with bands like Umoja and hang pieces in coffee houses. My painting suffered for lack of time, but I got the opportunity to be creative in so many other ways that it was okay. After I left Back Booth I needed a new creative outlet so I picked up the paint brush and started to get serious.” One year later he had his first solo show at The Peacock Room with over 30 paintings. Since then he has shown in some of the premiere galleries across the country.
The evolution of Fatica’s oil paintings has been substantial since each piece can take up to 70 hours from the first stroke to the last and because in the last 4 years he has finished just over 100 paintings. In the last couple of years Fatica has made a name for himself in the pop surreal movement being called “a sublime blend of Tim Burton and Botticelli” by the Baltimore Examiner. Although he is known across the country for his large eyed women he always comes home to the Peacock Room every fall to display the evolution of his paintings.
Featured at The Peacock Room will be original oil paintings and framed and canvas limited edition prints for sale. Fatica also has what he calls “propaganda” for sale. This includes necklace pendants, ID cases, and lunchbox purses. The propaganda evolved out of the recent economic conditions. “I want to offer affordable items so that everyone can bring home a piece of art.” Fatica explained. There is still nothing like owning an original piece with a custom frame made by the artist. Opening night is Monday November 16th at 8 pm and the show will run through December 19th.
